The role

Prominent is looking for an experienced head of PR to lead our team.

Working alongside the head of creative and reporting to the managing director, this role will oversee the team of account directors, account managers and account executives, ensuring all client PR activity is of a consistently high standard, strategic and always meeting business objectives.

The head of PR will be a mentor to the team, offering sage advice and internal training where required, guiding and assisting with goal setting, account direction and promotion of a culture that promotes integrity, high performance, continuous improvement and commitment to quality throughout the department.

The head of PR will oversee and manage PR income to the business, will lead on business development and pitching and will set financial targets for the team. They will also play a key role in recruitment of staff and shaping of the business.

The ideal person will either already be in a similar role and be looking for a change of company or have had over 10 years of experience working in a high ranking PR position, for example, as an account director, looking for a move into a ‘head of’ role. The candidate will also have a proven and successful role in a staff management position, preferably the management of a PR team.

 

In summary, you’ll be:

  • An excellent leader with strong communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellence across all PR skillsets including: writing, presenting, pitching, planning, supporting crises, managing change, account management, financial planning, business development and creativity
  • Responsible for maintaining senior relationships within your client base, key-opinion leaders and other third-party relationships
  • Able to produce first-class and creative written work at all times
  • A key contributor to our business plan and strategic direction of the company through your knowledge of market trends, to ensure long term, future growth and success
  • An ambassador for Prominent at a senior level externally (trade/national press relations, speaking opportunities, membership organisations, etc.)
  • Responsible for capacity planning – accountability for resource planning for the practice group; planning ahead to avoid over or under-servicing and maintaining profitability
  • Accountable for growth of the practice through organic growth and new client revenues .
  • A strong line manager, able to deliver timely appraisals, identify training needs, as well as coaching and mentoring
  • Responsible for maintaining morale and motivation within Prominent
